On a beautiful May evening, Global Ties KC welcomed community members, partners, international visitors, and supporters from across Kansas City for another unforgettable Heartland Pop-Up. It was an event dedicated to celebrating the power of citizen diplomacy, youth leadership, and lasting global relationship building in Kansas City.
The 2026 Heartland Pop-Up brought together globally minded individuals from across sectors to connect, learn, and celebrate the impact of international exchange programs in Kansas City. Guests enjoyed an evening of networking, great food, drinks, and music by the Timbers all while supporting Global Ties KC’s mission to build lasting global relationships in Kansas City.
One of the highlights of the evening was presentations from three Youth Diplomats about their community action projects. The Heartland Youth Diplomats Institute is a free 9-month experiential learning program that empowers local high school students through real-world leadership development and global engagement opportunities.
Global Ties KC also announced the Barbara Dolci Scholarship Recipient, Andrew Shelton. The event also featured 11 entrepreneurs from Latin America and the Caribbean on the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiatives as featured guests.
